Ambers` boss Gordon Boateng (pictured above) told nonleaguedaily: “After
putting silverware on the sideboard against an excellent Ware outfit,
this could well be the turning point for us and a reward for the way our
players and supporters have stuck together during a difficult period in
the club`s history.”
The former Brimsdown Rovers boss and Harlow Town number two was at pains
to point out his players fully deserved the win, which came by virtue of
former `Football Icon` star Mark Gradosielski (right) steaming up in
support to score with a firm header after 65 minutes in a contest that
was of real cup tie proportion, making the point that Cheshunt defended
stoutly and kept working the ball around expertly.
Silverware on the night came on the back of quarter final success
against the campaign`s previous holders Potters Bar Town by 2-1, the
same successful margin in the semis against league rivals Hitchin Town.
Boateng finalised by saying: “There is a feel good factor back at our
club and it is nice to be in the headlines for something good for a
change.
“This will be a great boost for a team with very much a point to prove.”
